1. Describe our solar system being sure to use the following terms correctly:
* solar nebula theory of solar system development
* terrestrial planets
* jovian planets
* THE asteroid belt
* kuiper belt
* frost line - an imaginary line that demarcates one area from another [I'm being vague on purpose so that I don't explain it]

2. Explain the process of accretion.
3. The objects in the solar system can be classified as: terrestrial planets, jovian planets, asteroids or comets. From the readings, explain why the inner planets are terrestrial and the outer planets are gas giants.
4. Similarly, what caused the asteroid belt to form where it is?
5. The first web page in the web slide suggests some predictions a good solar hypothesis should account for. These include the fact that most of the planets revolve around the sun in the same direction, the terrestrial planets are near the sun and the Jovian [gas giants] are farther from the sun and the location of the asteroid belt and source of comets. Explain how does the solar nebular hypothesis account for these important facts of our solar system?
6. Compare and contrast the characteristics of the four terrestrial planets. Compare and contrast the components of the atmosphere, max and min temperature changes, orbital period [length of year], orbital eccentricity, rotational period [length of day] angle of tilt and distance from the sun.

How was the universe created?



There are two theories that explain the existence of the universe; the Big Bang Theory and the Steady State Theory.



The Big Bang Theory suggests that about 12-15 billion years ago all matter and energy exploded and expanded from an original point of nothing. This was when both time and space were created.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 aborted its launch May 19 moments after its engines ignited when computers detected higher pressure readings than allowed. The center engine pressure built above limits and a shutdown occurred one-half second before liftoff, SpaceX officials said.

Newfound exoplanet may turn to dust: Planet’s dust cloud may explain strange patterns of light from its star

Researchers have detected a possible planet, some 1,500 light years away, that appears to be evaporating under the blistering heat of its parent star.
